Big, Giant Awards Post

As I continue on this slippery slope of blog-slackerdom, I feel the need to apologize to all the fabulous bloggers out there who have presented me with bloggy awards that I most certainly do not deserve. But thank you. In an attempt to catch up (and I know I'm going to forget someone here, so sorry in advance), I'm going to muster up a big, giant awards post.

From Wicked Steppie, the "Your Blog is Swank" award. Rad! The rules of this award? Simply pass it on...so, go check out the swank at Family in Bloom, What Remains Behind and Pretend Mommy.

Next Up: the "Honest Scrap" award from Megs7827. She just got married this weekend! Woot! Rules: tell 10 things about myself, then forward the award to ten bloggers. Erm, yeah, I'm a slacker, remember? I'm aiming for three for three...
About me: 1.) I'm addicted to NPR. So much so that even when they do their fund drives, I sit there and listen rather than change the station to commercial radio. 2.) I don't have TV. When they converted to digital, my husband and I decided not to get the converter box. We do watch movies via Netflix but we are wayyyyyy out of the loop when it comes to what's on TV. 3.) Sometimes people ask me if my (older) brother and I are identical twins. I'm not sure if this means I look like a man, he looks like a woman or people are just incredibly stupid.
And the award goes to: 1.) The Evil Step-mom??, 2.) Marsha 3.) Stepmomma. Check 'em out!

From f8hasit, the "Official Seal of the Ultimate MeMe" award. This award is pretty much a blog slacker's nightmare...create 5 categories each containing 5 favorite items of said category and then tag 5 people to do the same thing. *Smacks head.* How's 4 categories/4 items/4 people?

Music I Probably Can't Live Without:
The Eels
Le Tigre
Tom Waits
Beethoven

TV Shows I Own on DVD because They're That Good:
Red Dwarf
The Office (American version)
30 Rock
Flight of the Conchords

Movies I Can't Stop Watching Over and Over:
Stranger than Fiction

Immortal Beloved

Books That are Falling Apart Because I've Read Them So Many Times:

Still Life With Woodpecker, Tom Robbins
The Robber Bride, Margaret Atwood
The Complete Works, William Shakespeare

I hereby assign this task to:
Amy
Sharon

Can't wait to learn more about you guys!

And finally, from Little Ms. Blogger, the "Fabulous Sugar Doll Blogger" award. Rules: 10 facts/10 bloggers. *Deep breath in.* EWO's new rules: 5 facts/2 bloggers!

1.) I lived in Epping, NSW, Australia for two years. I would go back there forever in a heartbeat.
2.) I make my own beer. Or at least I know how to; I haven't done it in a while.
3.) I have pretty big feet. As a result, I frequently run into transvestites and drag queens when shoe shopping. (I think I may have written this somewhere on my blog before, but I can't remember where...?)
4.) When I met my husband, he was in a punk rock band and had a mohawk. He now plays in an acoustic rock cover band and is bald. WTF?
5.) I once lived across the street from Richard Hatch, of Survivor fame.

And I hereby nominate the following Sugar Dolls:
1.) Pretty Girl and the Wicked Stepmother
2.) Courtney

There ya have it. Now, don't be surprised if I don't post again for a month ;)

To everyone who awarded me, a heartfelt thanks!!!! And to everyone who received an award, a heartfelt congrats!!!

Belated Thank You

My most sincere thanks to Mean Stepmom, Erin and BAS for bestowing upon me this fabulous award:

And my most sincere apologies for being so tardy in accepting it!

I've been away, with no access to the internet (because that's how I like my vacations!) and then, I had much catching up to do. Thank you, ladies, for the recognition.

Rules of the game? List five obsessions and share the love with five other blogs.

So....

I am obsessed with:

COFFEE
, like mean stepmom. I love love love the taste of it, consider a steaming-hot mug the perfect afternoon snack and turn into a dragon if I don't get my morning cup(s). In fact, every job I've taken has been conveniently located next to a coffee shop. However, I do not like iced coffee. Hot only.

THE OCEAN. I grew up on a sailboat and fancied myself a mermaid until roughly age 8 (Splash anyone?). I love the sound of the ocean, the smell of the salty air and even the, er, creative hairstyles a week at the beach produces. I could never ever live far from the ocean.

DOCUMENTARIES. Don't get me wrong, I love goofy movies, intense dramas and the occasional zombie flick. But doccos take the cake. I watch at least one a week. Most recently watched: Cocaine Cowboys. Very good; I recommend.

BEETHOVEN. Always my favorite composer, when I saw the movie Immortal Beloved, I fell in love. Maybe my image of Gary Oldman as The Maestro himself isn't exactly accurate, but that doesn't make the music affect me any less.

MY BEACH CRUISER. There's nothing like riding around on a cheerily-colored single speed with wide handlebars to make your worries melt away. I feel like a kid again, even if I'm riding to the pub. I hate winter primarily because I cannot ride my cruiser down the icy streets. It is one of my most favorite activities.

AND

I would like to pass this award on to:

Stepmom in Transition - she just started her blog last week and I can't wait to follow her journey "from being a crazy 20 something year old to *poof* stepmomma."

The Evil Stepmom - another new blogger who I just discovered. She's trying so hard to co-parent, even to the point of vacationing together(!), and writes about the inevitable bumps along the way.

F8hasit - she describes herself as "easygoing and optimistic." I describe her as thought-provoking and insightful.
And witty as all get out. I always love her posts.

Confessions of a Psuedo-Stepmom - an incredible stepmom trying so hard to do what's absolutely best for her partner's kids. Amy where are you??? I miss you!!!

Confessions of a Mad Professor - I love her quotes, and I love her posts. And I want her to invite me over to her new house, so I'm hoping this award is my in.

Thanks for the great blogs ladies! You make my workdays fly by ;)
